5 Tips to Lose More Fat!

Everywhere you turn in today's world there is someone wanting to lose weight. We have become very self-conscious of how we look and of how others see us. Now this could be seen as a bad thing or a good thing, but that's not the topic at hand. The topic at hand is my personal, top 5 tips to losing more fat and keeping it off. So without further ado here they are.


• This one might seem obvious and unnecessary to mention but so many people still tend to ignore it. To lose weight in most cases you must be in a calorie deficit, so by this I mean you need to burn more calories then you eat. Strait forward to the point yet it is constantly over looked. What gets measured get managed.

• Now one very easy but effective tip is to burn 100 calories in 5 minutes before every workout. You can do this any way you like weather it be the treadmill or the cross trainer it's up to you, but it isn't as easy as it sounds you will have to push yourself. This is a great way to prime the body for greater fat loss during your workout and to burn more calories over the week.

• OK this one is my favourite and probably one of the more under utilized tips. Re-feed days. The principle of a re-feed day is that you double you daily carbohydrate intake form example if you were eating 200 grams of carbs you would increase this to 400 grams for the day. The idea behind this is that the increased carbs will put you in a calorie surplus for the day, which will allow your body to recover and bring up your leptin levels and help to reset your metabolism. This tip can be used once a week for leaner people and once a month for those who tend to have more body fat.

• Increase your protein intake. A good target is 1 gram per pound of body weight. Protein is very important for recovery and muscle growth as it is made up of the building blocks of life. Protein also has a higher thermogenic effect in the body. This means that one gram of protein actually burns more calories during digestion than one gram of carbs or fat. Therefore by increasing protein and reducing carbs you will actually increase your thermogenic response to food and so that leads back to improving tip 1. Yes it is as simple as that!!

• Finally probably the most important and at the same time the most over looked. Lift more weights and yes this goes for GIRLS as well, you will not get big and bulky!! What it will do is increase you basal metabolic rate, which is how many calories your body burns at rest. This is because the more muscle you have the more calories you need to maintain it so more muscle equals greater potential for fat loss and staying lean.
